Yeah. I should never post these until I've slept on them. Looking at the portrait this morning, I felt the background was too busy, and too yellow, that it competed with Tiger's gold and busy self. H agreed, so I softened up the daubed background, and cooled it down, with some washes of warm and cool blues.
Of course, once I'd done that, I had to go into Tiger again and adjust some edges, some tones, some highlights ...
Anyway, NOW he's done. I'm 99% sure.
;)
What do you think?
He definitely pops out of the picture more now! Although I thought he looked good before, but it's definitely better!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Xan! I didn't think it needed improvement but the tweak looks great. I do the same thing with photos. I'll think they look perfect once I'm done editing, and then the next morning I go "hey wait a sec.." :P
ReplyDeleteI know you'll keep up the good work!
I agree with Houndstooth! I thought the first version looked good until the final final, and he really does pop more.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Good, then at least the 5 of us agree this is an improvement!
ReplyDeleteRachel, good to see you here. Oh! I'm looking at your blog. Of course I love seeing your photos, but I guess I didn't realize you had a blog. I'm in love with your pups, too. *sigh* "Echo's sweet face"! (http://rachelhogue.blogspot.com/2010/12/echos-sweet-face.html) melt
